Amina Amanchi

Amina Ogmula Amanchi was born in Nasarawa State, Nigeria-West Africa, but originally hails from Bassa Local Government of Plateau State, Nigeria. She received her primary education in Plateau State, Nigeria from 1985-1993 while she attended high school in the Federal Government Girls’ College in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Amina went abroad to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Physical Education & Sports at the International School of Physical Education and Sports in Havana, Cuba. She returned to Nigeria in 2006 after five years in Latin America and began working with the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2008. In 2015, she obtained a master’s degree in International Sports and Event Management from Kedge Business School, France.

She is a sports enthusiast who profoundly believes in sports as a cross-cultural tool for the promotion of peace and unity among all countries of the world and would give anything to help sports become more developed not only in Nigeria but on the African continent. She has contributed to the organization of numerous sporting events in Nigeria and has served in the secretariat of many other strategic seminars that look for new ways to promote sports in Nigeria. She is currently the Secretary-General of the Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria and has recently been nominated to represent her country in the 2018 US Department of State & espnW Global Sports Mentoring Program: Empowering Women & Girls Through Sports.

By nature, she is a philanthropist, a devout Christian, and an advocate for peace for all and for women in sport. Amina belongs to the Association of Women in Sports, and she would love to continue to support and contribute to women’s empowerment not only in Africa but all around the world.

She is married and blessed with four children.
